Stanisław Czwartos – artist biography
Stanisław Czwartos (born 1998) is a contemporary Polish painter and a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He received his diploma in 2024 from the painting studio of Professor Janusz Matuszewski and the drawing studio of Professor Grzegorz Wnęk. He represents a young generation of artists developing a distinctive visual language between figuration and abstraction.
Artistic practice and visual language
Czwartos combines figurative painting traditions with elements of the Polish school of abstraction. His works are constructed through the arrangement of recurring visual forms, resulting in structured and rhythmic compositions.
Method and process
The artist compares his creative process to building with blocks—each painting emerges from assembling fixed visual elements. This method allows for both consistency and openness within the composition.
Meaning and interpretation
A key aspect of his work is semantic openness. By avoiding literal representation and focusing on suggestion, his paintings invite individual interpretation and maintain a universal, timeless quality.
Artistic context
Stanisław Czwartos’ work contributes to contemporary painting that explores the balance between form and meaning, merging figuration and abstraction into a cohesive artistic language.
