Marek Zyga (b. 1968) has been dedicated to ceramic sculpture since 2003. His works, particularly those from the Fundamentals series, depict human figures carrying structures composed of letters, reflecting his fascination with language, communication, and human expression. He sees letters as both mysterious symbols and artistic forms, representing human struggles, conflicts, and the complexity of interpersonal connections.
His sculptures reference classical sculptural forms, incorporating busts, torsos, and heads imbued with symbolic, surreal, and sometimes erotic elements. Inspired by human relationships, gestures, and behavior, he transforms these observations into sculptural narratives. His work is exhibited in Poland and internationally, and he collaborates with galleries in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark.
Zyga made his artistic debut in 2007 at the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec, where he continues to live and create. His sculptures have since been featured in numerous international exhibitions and prestigious art fairs, including SOFA Chicago, TEFAF Maastricht, Art Palm Beach, Art Hamptons, Scope Miami, and Arte Padova. He has held solo exhibitions at venues such as Continuum Gallery in Germany, Van Loon Gallery in the Netherlands, and Stadtpfarrer Kitzbühel in Austria. His works remain in high demand across European and American art markets, consistently drawing attention for their innovative exploration of form and meaning.
